Ttouch is a forward-thinking approach to Training, Handling and Rehabilitation. Ttouch recognises the inextricable link between posture and behaviour, using a variety of bodywork touches, 'free' groundwork, balanced leading exercises and specific equipment to help release tension and promote a feeling of calm and wellbeing. For dogs, Ttouch also incorporates choice driven, respectful training techniques such as calm scent work, Chirag Patels 'Bucket Game' and force free shaping of calming behaviours and postures.
Ttouch has a profound and potent effect on the nervous system by stimulating the release of 'feel good' hormones, releasing tension and changing habitual movements. In turn, this affects the mood and behaviour of the animal. Ttouch can be particularly effective in cases of anxiety and nervousness, for sensitive or over-excitable animals, those with repetitive or compulsive behaviours and animals who struggle with contact (handling and grooming), but all animals can benefit from Ttouch.
Practitioners are trained to observe and understand the finest elements of animal body language and behaviour and the animal is given time to process the experiences from the Ttouch techniques so that it can communicate its responses comfortably and calmly. Ttouch is something we do for an animal and not to them.
I am a Tellington Ttouch Practitioner, having qualified in Spring 2018 after completing the three year practitioner training course. Ttouch is known as the touch that teaches and elements of Ttouch are incorporated into all of my training and behaviour work. Specific touches and techniques are taught to all clients wishing to learn them. If you have a particular interest in using Tellington Ttouch to help your dog (or other pet) please contact me:
Please note: Ttouch is not a replacement for appropriate veterinary care. Ttouch is sometimes used alongside physiotherapy and to aid animal handling during vet visits, however, it should not be considered an alternative to any medical therapies your vet prescribes.
