I am a qualified Bach Flower Animal Practitioner and use Bach Flower Remedies as part of Behaviour Consultations, if requested.
Developed by the physician and homeopath Dr Edward Bach over 80 years ago. There are 38 remedies plus the well known and more recently added Rescue Remedy, which is a combination of the remedies which help to restore calm in times of anxiety and shock.
Dr Bach developed the remedies after noticing how the emotions affect the overall general health and wellbeing of a person.
For animals Bach Flower Remedies are used in conjunction with behaviour modification techniques if requested. Just as with people, the appropriate Bach remedies are selected after careful assessment of the emotional state of the animal. Bach Remedies can be particularly helpful in instances of noise phobias, separation and attachment disorders and anxiety disorders
The chosen remedies are mixed in spring water and drops of the mixture can be added to food or water bowls or stroked onto the head or the flanks or applied to a front paw 2-3 times a day.
Reassessment of the need for the remedies or any changes in which of the remedies are required takes place with follow up consultations. Bach Flower Remedies are always and only selected for emotional states and never for physical health issues which should always be treated by your vet.
